Category Five Technologies Provides Drinking Water Upgrade to Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose

LIVONIA, Mich. Category Five Technologies has completed the first project through its Refresh Hydration Grant, providing a new Elkay LZO8WSSK bottle filling station and drinking fountain to Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose after the nonprofit museum sought help replacing an aging drinking-water unit.

Children's Discovery Museum contacted Category Five Technologies after an application for outside water-conservation funding did not qualify for support. The museum's existing equipment served thousands of children, caregivers, school groups and other visitors each year, and one of its three Elkay stations needed to be replaced.

The museum had installed a bottle-fill-only station when it reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic and wanted the replacement to restore a traditional drinking-fountain feature while continuing to offer bottle filling.

Through the Refresh Hydration Grant, Category Five Technologies supplied an Elkay LZO8WSSK bottle filling station and drinking fountain to replace the older unit. The museum's exhibit team completed the installation in August.

Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose reported annual attendance of 242,038 visitors, including 23,666 visitors through 313 school groups. The museum also hosts 12 community celebrations attended by nearly 20,000 people and provides admission assistance to 37,146 visitors.

The replacement restored access to both bottle filling and drinking-fountain use while matching the museum's other Elkay stations.

Following installation, Nayna Patel, Development & Membership Manager at Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose, sent Category Five Technologies a photograph of the completed project and reported positive visitor response.

"Our guests are absolutely delighted with the product," Patel said.

The project is the first completed award through Category Five Technologies' Refresh Hydration Grant, part of the company's Community Impact Initiative.

Launched in 2026, the self-funded initiative allows Category Five Technologies to use its own resources, inventory and purchasing capabilities to help schools, nonprofit organizations, parks, libraries and other public-serving organizations improve hydration and restroom facilities. The initiative is independently funded by Category Five Technologies and is not sponsored by a manufacturer.

The Refresh Hydration Grant, powered by ProDrinkingFountains.com, provides an eligible drinking fountain or bottle filling station to a selected organization.

The company's Renew Restrooms Grant, powered by ProDryers.com, provides up to $3,000 in store credit toward qualifying commercial restroom products.

"This first project shows what we want the initiative to become," DiCicco said. "There are organizations doing important work that occasionally have facility needs where we can genuinely help. We want to find more of those opportunities."
